The organisation has a multi tiered approach towards alleviating poverty and redressing resource imbalances in communities, which either exist in protected areas or have protected areas/ conservation estates as neighbours. The approach focuses on four pillars: - SMME development
- Infrastructure development
- Education, training and development
- Environmental health and tourism promotion
Each of these four tiers can be viewed as an efficacy in itself, but together provides a powerful vector for social upliftment and responsible resource usage. Critical to the success of these aims are the principles of sound planning, medium term (18- 24 months) mentorship, community ownership and the use of locally based project management teams which act as the drivers and champions of alleviating poverty and promoting responsible resource usage.
Additional capacity building fields include effective Decision Making, Corporate Governance, Financial Management and Strategic and Operational Management Planning.
These work methodologies also apply to tourism (product and business) development as well as Protected Area Management.
